To trace lost crypto, you need six things: the transaction hash (TXID), your wallet address, the recipient address, the network used, the dates and amounts, and any supporting evidence such as screenshots and the platform name. The more complete this file, the faster and more actionable the trace.

The essential evidence checklist

  1. Transaction hash (TXID). The unique fingerprint of each payment — the key to the whole trace.
  2. Your wallet address. The origin point of the funds.
  3. Recipient (scammer) address. The first destination; where the trace begins.
  4. Network / asset. Bitcoin, Ethereum (ERC-20), TRON (TRC-20), etc. This selects the correct explorer.
  5. Dates and amounts. Needed to correlate hops and confirm the path.
  6. Supporting evidence. Screenshots of the platform, chats, promises, and the website or app URL.

Where to find your TXID

Your wallet or exchange lists a TXID for every send. If you cannot find it, search your sending address on a block explorer — your transactions will be listed with their hashes.

Organise it before you report

Put everything into a single dated document. Consistent, well-labelled evidence is what allows law enforcement, exchanges, and investigators to act quickly.
